[He has Harvey in the Infirmary, and he's sitting by the bed. Not smoking because apparently that's bad for the lungs, or something, and he's in an infirmary with injured people...]

Harvey and Two-Face are in custody. He's going on cabin arrest soon as he's patched up.

Tell you the truth, I think he'd like a little eye for an eye, so if you have a grudge and you don't mind spinning on the merry-go-round with him, I'm not going to step in if you decide to get some 'justice'.

But don't do it anywhere near his cabin.

If anyone knows what the hell happened, fill me in.

[OOC: For those who do respond with wanting to kill Harvey, the Motorcycle Boy will explain what's really going on and that he's actually doing this as a way to build some stability for Harvey to be out instead of Two-Face...but without Two-Face knowing it.

Also, if you try to come to the cabin, Motorcycle Boy is there and watching you and you will also get that explanation in private.]

[ Later... Harvey awakes in pain. Theres's a low animal sound eyes moving; one opens, the other just jerks back and forth grotesquely in its socket. Not a good day for him. ]

[He's reading (How Are We to Live?) and doesn't immediately stop. He gets probably a good four or five pages more, actually, before he leans forward, elbows on his knees.]

Hey. Harvey? [Or Two-Face? Probably Harvey. He can't imagine the more selfish personality would be willing to lay there helpless and in pain.]

[halftheman]

[ No. Two-Face is deep. Harvey is surface, soaking up the pain his double got him. ]

Nggh. Well, look who showed up.

What happened before Ivy got to you?

[So much for letting the patient rest. But he needs details while they're sort of fresh, before any medications are really on board, and before Two-Face has a chance to concoct any misdirection if he feels the need.]

[halftheman]

Just-- giving a life lesson.

Yeah? What was the agenda for today?

[halftheman]

Does it matter? I flunked out.

[ He shifts, and regrets it; both arms broken, fingers in one hand, mouth like hamburger. ]

[ Cause he ain't talking anymore until a healer's seen to him.

[He puts the conversation on hold, and flags for help. He's quiet again for a couple of hours, waiting until Harvey seems well enough to talk.]

[ Merlin comes and goes, and is happy to magic him back to strength, mending bones and soothing burns. Eventually he's sitting up in his soaked clothes, blood stained but whole. ]

What's the plan now, warden?

You're on house arrest. You'll keep doing some of your jobs [the fish!]

You know the law, one of the unbreakable ones, every action has a reaction. I'm gonna give you a reaction. [He's watching him, for any shift. It's rare he sees Harvey this low, this vulnerable though; it's almost like meeting him for the first time.]

I need you to write down what happened. Why that kid, why the way you guys did it. [This isn't a book report. It's important that the Motorcycle Boy understand, and his hearing is too unreliable for them to just talk it out.]

And then I want you to tell me if you think you really gave your all in that. Then I'll figure out the consequence.

[He smiles crookedly] Don't think they need an invitation to keep the madness going. Maybe the smart ones will realize there's no point.

Do you know Two-Face?

No, I don't, and I don't care what the smart ones may or may not do, or the dumb ones, or the crazy ones, or the harmless ones. You're his warden.

Did you just give me an essay to write, warden?

[ He's not sure that's right. ]

Yeah. But you're not their warden.

Being honest with you I won't let anyone lay a hand on Harvey. But Two-Face, when he starts charging that red cloth again? Yeah people can do what they want to him.

Harvey needs to be safe every time he's out. It's a positive reinforcement thing, Warden, but it's going to happen organically. Two-Face can't know about it or he'll sabotage.

[He taps the side of his head sheepishly.]

Sorry I'm deaf, Dent. You sit here and talk at me and I'll miss half of it.

[halftheman]

Selective hearing, warden. [ But he twists it like that, and he'll write it. Or he'll let Two-Face. One or the other. ]

[That's when he switches to private, too, and goes silent for a few, baffled moments.]

He's got split personalities. 'Two-Face' isn't just a sick nickname he made up for himself. And he's never going to be strong enough to put himself back together unless we make Harvey stronger than Two-Face. I'm trying to save Harvey, not the other guy. You follow?

[He actually smiles, because he hadn't really expected his inmate to accommodate him. Back home he had learned to just not say anything about his deafness, because there were too many sharks in the water as it was, all of them out for his blood. Here it's even worse. Two-Face isn't some gangster punk on the streets, and Harvey is out so sporadically he can't get a feel for him...but lawyers, in his experience, are unreliable and slippery.]

Problem you're setting yourself up for here is that split personalities or not, they share a body, and not everyone you're inviting to have a go is gonna stop and/or give a shit which side of the brain is in charge at the time.

You're inviting people to come at Harvey, too.
