[He has Harvey in the Infirmary, and he's sitting by the bed. Not smoking because apparently that's bad for the lungs, or something, and he's in an infirmary with injured people...]

Harvey and Two-Face are in custody. He's going on cabin arrest soon as he's patched up.

Tell you the truth, I think he'd like a little eye for an eye, so if you have a grudge and you don't mind spinning on the merry-go-round with him, I'm not going to step in if you decide to get some 'justice'.

But don't do it anywhere near his cabin.

If anyone knows what the hell happened, fill me in.

[OOC: For those who do respond with wanting to kill Harvey, the Motorcycle Boy will explain what's really going on and that he's actually doing this as a way to build some stability for Harvey to be out instead of Two-Face...but without Two-Face knowing it.

Also, if you try to come to the cabin, Motorcycle Boy is there and watching you and you will also get that explanation in private.]

Does it matter? I flunked out.

[ He shifts, and regrets it; both arms broken, fingers in one hand, mouth like hamburger. ]

Merlin?

[ Cause he ain't talking anymore until a healer's seen to him.

[velocette]

[He puts the conversation on hold, and flags for help. He's quiet again for a couple of hours, waiting until Harvey seems well enough to talk.]

[ Merlin comes and goes, and is happy to magic him back to strength, mending bones and soothing burns. Eventually he's sitting up in his soaked clothes, blood stained but whole. ]

What's the plan now, warden?

[velocette]

You're on house arrest. You'll keep doing some of your jobs [the fish!]

You know the law, one of the unbreakable ones, every action has a reaction. I'm gonna give you a reaction. [He's watching him, for any shift. It's rare he sees Harvey this low, this vulnerable though; it's almost like meeting him for the first time.]

[halftheman]

[ Two-Face leaves him to the consequences. Always does. ]

No stint in the Zero? S'a new one. But your call, warden.

What good does a cell do?

I need you to write down what happened. Why that kid, why the way you guys did it. [This isn't a book report. It's important that the Motorcycle Boy understand, and his hearing is too unreliable for them to just talk it out.]

And then I want you to tell me if you think you really gave your all in that. Then I'll figure out the consequence.

[halftheman]

Did you just give me an essay to write, warden?

[ He's not sure that's right. ]

[velocette]

[He taps the side of his head sheepishly.]

Sorry I'm deaf, Dent. You sit here and talk at me and I'll miss half of it.

[halftheman]

Selective hearing, warden. [ But he twists it like that, and he'll write it. Or he'll let Two-Face. One or the other. ]

[velocette]

[He actually smiles, because he hadn't really expected his inmate to accommodate him. Back home he had learned to just not say anything about his deafness, because there were too many sharks in the water as it was, all of them out for his blood. Here it's even worse. Two-Face isn't some gangster punk on the streets, and Harvey is out so sporadically he can't get a feel for him...but lawyers, in his experience, are unreliable and slippery.]

Thanks. Need anything while you're down and out?

[halftheman]

Stationary, if I gotta write you an essay, warden.

[ SO DRY ]

[velocette]

I'll be back.

[Art room!

He comes back with several bright, bright lemon-yellow sheets of paper, and a couple of pens.]

[halftheman]

You chose lemon yellow for a reason?

[velocette]

It was the first one on the table.

[And he's fully expecting more disbelief:]

And I can't see colors. I'd go get you another one but it'd probably be worse.

[halftheman]

Colorblind and deaf. You got the genetic lotto, didn't you?

[velocette]

[He grins, politely] You don't know the half of it. Least I didn't catch the Old Man's drinking, I guess.

[halftheman]

At least.

[ Harv didn't either. Caught his rage instead. But he take his items and gestures. ]

Ready for my escort.

[ Luckily they're on the same floor as his room. ]

[velocette]

[He's glad Harvey's legs aren't broken. It'd be hard to be look-out with a wheelchair to worry about. (The concept of healing, of what Merlin and the others do, hasn't really occurred to him yet; it's so foreign.)

He takes him to the room, where the fish are swimming, and for a second he's just about hypnotized by them.]

Which one of you asked for the smokes?

Harvey.

Not that Two-Face minds.

[ They share a nicotine habit, an addiction. ]

[velocette]

[He takes one of his own from a pocket, because damn he needs a smoke after today.]

You know, I learned some people name their fish. They give them full showdog names. Funniest thing I've heard all week.

[halftheman]

The hell is a fucking snowdog?

[ Harv gets into the carton, finding the lighter; good quality. Meant to last him. He needs a smoke too-- get the taste of Ivy out of his mouth. ]

[velocette]

Show. People fluff them up and put them on leashes and judges check them, nose to ass. But they have names like Wee Bit o'Honey.

[halftheman]

Fish will be lucky if they all get called sushi.

[velocette]

[He cracks a grin, and he's laughing without laughing again.]

Never had it but I doubt these have enough meat to taste.

[halftheman]

Doubt it.

[ He laid his papers on the table, pen too, and then loosened his tie. His clothes were blood spattered and soaked; it was time to get changed. ]

Gonna clean up, Warden. Still got a sink, after all.
